Wave scissors that cut a sweeping, fluid edge
The SOHMO Wave Scissors cut a generous, flowing 18mm wave with each pass, sharp enough to go through felt, fabric, and paper cleanly without tearing or distorting the curve.
A wave edge is something different from a scallop or a zigzag. Where a scallop gives a rounded, repeating arc and a zigzag gives a sharp, angular finish, the wave moves in longer, softer undulations. At 18mm, the wave is large enough to be clearly visible as a deliberate design choice, without being so deep that it becomes difficult to work with on tighter curves or smaller pieces.
The wave edge works beautifully as a decorative border on clothing hems, sleeve edges, and cuffs; on felt banners, garlands, and wall hangings; as a trim edge on gift wrap and ribbon; and on paper crafts and scrapbooking.
Like the rest of the SOHMO Decorative Scissors range, the handles are made from lightweight ABS plastic. Decorative scissors have wider, heavier blades than standard scissors, and keeping the handles light keeps the overall weight manageable over a long crafting session.
The blades are coated stainless steel, finished in black with the SOHMO logo laser-etched directly onto the blade.
At $79.95, these are scissors worth caring for. Each pair comes in a pale rose gift box with foam insert, a microfibre cloth for blade maintenance, and a care card.
A note on paper: Wave scissors cut paper beautifully, but paper dulls blades faster than fabric. If you do a lot of both, keeping a dedicated pair for paper is worth it - your fabric cuts will stay cleaner for longer.
