This is a multi- purpose kit, by leaving the sides open you can create a Needle/Pin holder, stitch in place the extra felt pieces to make pockets, for accessories, eg scissors. 
When you stitch up the sides, it becomes a card holder/purse, I like to stitch one of the extra pieces of felt on the outside, its perfect for holding travel cards.
